Thanksgiving Table DIY Place Cards Craft

Happy Thanksgiving! This will be a quick post. As American's across the land are basting turkeys and bringing out the good china, I thought I'd share a quick place cards craft. All you need is some fall foliage and gold spray paint. Ready? Let's get to it.

Materials

Fallen leaves

Step 1: Collect Leaves

This is the fun part, and you can even involve the kids. Go outdoors and collect fallen leaves. You can choose all one type or mix them up. This year I experimented with some small fern-y types and I really like the way they turned out. They are a bit more delicate than, say, the big maple leaves, but their delicate lines are a nice contrast to the brown paper name tags and plain twine.

Step 2: Flatten the Leaves

You can skip this step if you're painting the leaves the same day. If you're not, they'll dry up fast, so flatten them under a heavy book and leave them there until you're ready to get your craft on.

Step 3: Spray Paint the Leaves

I like to use Krylon metallic paint, but use the spray paint of your choice. Krylon dries in a few hours.

Step 4: Write Out the Name Tags

Using a paint pen with metallic ink, write the names of your guests on plain brown paper name tags.

Step 5: Attach the Name Tags With Twine

You can attach each name tag to a single large leaf, like a maple leaf, or bundle smaller leaves together.

Happy Thanksgiving!
