Farmhouse Table from White Flower Farmhouse in Peconic

The cottage is really shaping up, thanks in no small part to the design eye of proprietor Lori at White Flower Farmhouse, a little home store in Peconic on the North Fork of Long Island with very affordable and beautiful things. Every time we finish a room and begin to look for furnishings, her lovely little shop is our first stop. Invariably we find just the right thing.

The farmhouse table is extra long to seat 12 when we need to. The maple top is made of panels salvaged from the Custer Observatory. Doug, the carpenter made it to spec and delivered it to our door for $500. When we were finished admiring it and voicing our regrets that we didn't have a handsome bench to match it, he took up the challenge.

We had intended to put the bench behind the table, and line the Emeco Navy chairs along the outside. But once we got the bench in, we couldn't bear to hide it away under a table. It's lovely. I can't stop looking at it.

UPDATE:

Here are a few photos of the cottage today.
