My first DIY project post kitchen renovation: Install cabinet liner in the cabinet boxes, drawers, shelves, and pantries. Liner padding is available from most cabinet manufacturers and comes in rolls of (usually) clear plastic that you cut to fit. I used it to line our flatware and utensil drawers and pantry shelves. But for pantry floors and, especially, deep drawers where we store heavy pots and pans, I prefer a thicker padding—yoga mats to the rescue.
The thickness of your basic sticky yoga mat is just right for protecting surfaces and muffling noise, and they're available in a wide range of colors. This project is an easy DIY that will take just a few hours. Here's what you need:
Tools
Yoga Mat
Scissors
Measuring Tape
Sharpie marker
Steps
1. Remove everything from the drawer or cabinet and take measurements.
2. Mark measurements on yoga mat
3. Cut yoga mat, following vertical lines in mat for a straight cut.
4. Place liners in well of cabinets, pantries, and drawers.
5. Replace contents.
You'll need to vacuum from time to time, but any spills will wipe clean.
